Sleepover camp for teens!
High School/College Summer Camp 2016...a sleepover camp for teens who have finished their freshman year of high school, up thru those who are between high school and college.
Our Sleepover Camp's location for 2016 is CSUN!
We're tickled to death to be returning to Cal State Northridge! The campus is attractive, the living quarters are spacious, there's air conditioning everywhere (except outdoors), there are two swimming pools, the food is super...what's not to like?
This isn't your ordinary camp.
It's just not. There are no canoes. There are no cabins. We don't have American Indian names (unless you were given one at birth). We have showers. People cook for us. We might make something out of macaroni, but it's doubtful.
Who can come: students who have completed their freshman year of high school, up through students who have completed their senior year. (We also welcome adults who work with those students!) All levels of experience are welcome--from zero to lots. Doesn't matter whether you're on a ComedySportz High School League® team or not.
Here's what we are: the best camp for improv training if you're a high school student or an educator who works with theatre students. You're going to laugh a lot. Not a little -- a lot. You'll walk away with skills that will benefit you your entire life: trust, confidence, creative problem solving, teamwork, focus and the ability to turn challenges into gold. Simply, improv skills are essential for any actor, but also for anyone who wants to succeed.
All workshops are taught by professionals from ComedySportz Los Angeles, the longest running show in the city. Evenings are filled with different live shows every night, and there's plenty of time for swimming, soccer, softball, dodgeball, classic comedy films, and maybe even macaroni art. (Those same professionals make up the camp staff, and our ratio of counselors to campers is typically 1 to 6 or better.)
Past workshops have included: improv games, dramatic improv, musical improv, Shakespearean improv, stage combat, writing comedy for late night talk shows, writing comedy for the Web, commercial auditioning, puppeteering and more!
Be sure to check out the scholarships available which can lower your fee as much as $100. You can also get discounts for early registration and/or for bringing along some friends from your school. Educators willing to assist our counselors can also attend at a lower rate.
It's the opportunity of a lifetime. Don't miss out. We might make macaroni hats...
Session A: Tuesday July 26 - Saturday July 30, 2016
Session B: Tuesday August 2 - Saturday August 6, 2016
Both sessions are at Cal State University Northridge (CSUN), Northridge CA (near the 405 and 118 freeways)
• Campers who register before May 15 get a sizeable Early Bird discount.
• Camper pays the smaller "Team Fee" if attending camp with 3 or more students from her/his school.
Youth Improv Day Camp...a day camp for kids ages 8-13, at our new location in the North Hollywood Arts District!
should high school and college students have all the fun?
We've got a day camp for middle schoolers and kids!
improv training for grade schoolers and middle schoolers? Because it's fun. Because it'll
make them laugh a lot. And they'll walk away with skills that will
benefit them their entire lives: self-esteem, listening, trust, confidence, creative problem
solving, teamwork, focus and the ability to turn challenges into gold. (Of course, that stuff's not as important as the part about fun and laughing.) The kids are the stars, learning to create their own improv comedy in a special show at the end of camp.
All of our camp counselors are professionals from ComedySportz Los Angeles, the longest running show in the city.
