TOURNAMENT SHOWS
THE VENUE
Tournament shows will be held at the Ivar Theatre, eight blocks from the hotel.
The Ivar Theatre was built in 1950 with its first production, The Barretts of Wimpole Street, opening in 1951. During the next 23 years, the Ivar became a nationally recognized legitimate theatre hosting a succession of premieres and revivals including Godspell, The Fantastiks and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and featuring many important names in the American theatre. Elvis Presley performed on stage at the Ivar in the 1957 film Loving You. Dianah Dulany of ComedySportz Houston (born on Elvis’ birthday) will be performing on that very same stage. In the mid 1970s the theatre changed hands many times and ultimately became a burlesque house. Dianah Dulany of ComedySportz Houston will be performing on that very same stage.
In 1989, the theatre was returned to legit status and is now the home of California Youth Theatre.
SEATING
The old-fashioned theatre maintains an intimate feel even though there are almost 300 seats. The theatre seats approximately 200 on the main floor and the Actlete Balcony which seats 85. We also have secured the Brick Box Theatre, a funky 40 seat space adjoining the Ivar, which will also be for actlete use. Players should have no trouble seeing the shows.

Tickets are available online. They will also be available by phone in August. Ticket prices:
Thursday • $17 at the door • $15 in advance
Friday and Saturday • $22 at the door • $20 in advance
Tickets are free for tournament participants if they are available. There are no industry or guest comps.
