The ComedySportz World Championship tournament is known for its many fine opportunities to socialize and share artistic and business techniques with fellow improvisers. This year’s tournament is no exception!
We’ve got an amazing array of fun things for you. This year we built in sight-seeing time, so you don’t have to choose between improv and other fun.
Listed below are the highlights of the social events. Some have a fee, some are free, but all are optional! You can pick and choose what you like based on interest and budget! See the schedule highlights for the days and the player registration page to purchase activities. Also consult our list of ideas for sightseeing on your own, because there’s time built in the schedule for that too!
SOCIAL EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
Gathering Pool Party
Gather and greet friends at the Hollywood Roosevelt outdoor pool. This pool features a one-of-a-kind mural by David Hockney. This was also the setting for several scenes in Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can. Bring your suit or just come have a drink.
Cost: FREE. No-host bar.
Lucky Strike Lanes
Bowling Hollywood style! Enjoy dinner and drinks (no-host) and bowling (on us) at the hippest bowling alley you’ve ever been to.
Cost: FREE. Dinner is no-host.
ComedySportz Day at Universal Studios
Just one subway stop away, Universal Studios and Citywalk promise a whole day of fun. Special discounted tickets are available for ComedySportz! You’ll have fun enjoying the rides and attractions, and most of all, the famous studio lot tour led, we hope, by CSz LA player Luis Cortes. You can go a half day or the whole day. It’s up to you!
Cost: $38 for full day pass. Includes all attractions and studio lot tour.
Welcome Party at ComedySportz
Come visit our theatre and enjoy dinner and drinks as our guests at the official opening of tournament. Relax and get to know people listening to live music on our patio!
Cost: FREE.
New Games Workshop
Across the street from the Actlete Village is Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, one of the most famous cinemas in the world. Join the private pre-workshop backstage tour and then enjoy continental breakfast and the infamous New Games Workshop in one of the theatres at the Chinese complex!
Cost: Workshop, FREE. Optional VIP Tour and Continental Breakfast is $10.
Walking Tour of Hollywood

Join James Bailey for a walking tour of Hollywood Boulevard and the surrounding area. James’ head is full of Hollywood history and lore, and we’re trying to clear it out. Afterward, enjoy no-host lunch at the Musso and Frank Grill, the oldest restaurant in Hollywood. Established in 1919, Musso and Frank’s has long been a hangout for screenwriters and assorted celebrities. Since the Writer’s Guild was located nearby on Cherokee, it became a favorite watering hole of writers such as F. Scott Fitzgerald, William Faulkner (who mixed his own mint juleps here), John O’Hara, Dorothy Parker, Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler - even Ernest Hemingway.

The Amazing Race
Get a true Hollywood experience in our version of television’s The Amazing Race. You’ll team with players from other cities in an urban adventure using Hollywood history and Los Angeles kitsch. Using cell phone technology from The Go Game, this race will be Amazing Fun.
Cost: $10.
Sunday Champagne Brunch
at the Magic Castle
Enjoy Sunday Brunch at The Magic Castle!
The Magic Castle is:
* A lavishly appointed restaurant that serves a critically acclaimed menu in an elegant manner.
* Known to magicians all over the world as the premier magic venue and the virtual center of the magician’s universe.
* A major entertainment venue for magical acts, open seven days a week, where guests can explore and discover its treasures at their leisure.
* An authentic Victorian mansion, built in 1908 in the hills above Hollywood.
Normally you have to be a member to get in to this exclusive magician’s club, but we’ve got a great connection and you get to go! You’ll enjoy a sumptuous champagne brunch and a variety of magic shows. Sunday Brunch is at 11:00 am so if you want to go, plan your plane ticket for late afternoon on Sunday. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience something you won’t find anywhere else in the world!
Cost: $48. This price includes admission, brunch, champagne, magic shows, tax and gratuity.
Late Night Gatherings
Every night, we’ll have a late night party at a different location, all walking distance from the Actlete Village! We’ll also arrange a special drink discount for you. Watch the news bulletins for updates on the locations. Don’t tell us you’re “too tired” for one more drink!

Field Trip Day
That’s right, we’re taking a day off midweek for a field trip! Perhaps the most fun part of all: three fantastic field trips have been planned for you, or you can have the day to yourself for your own private field trip. Check the Field Trip section of this site for more info.
